About the trainer
Vicki Enns, MMFT, RMFT
Vicki is the Clinical Director of the Crisis & Trauma Resource Institute, an Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and an instructor in the graduate program for Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Winnipeg. In her private practice, she specializes in the area of trauma recovery for individuals of all ages and she helps individuals, couples and families build positive mental health and relational skills across developmental stages. She believes in a holistic approach to wellness that applies to both clients and helpers. Vicki also believes that it is essential for helpers to continue learning and developing their self-awareness alongside evolving clinical skills. She is the author or editor of many of CTRI’s training materials, including those on the topics of anxiety, trauma, mindfulness, gender and sexual diversity, ethics and wellness. Vicki continues her own path of personal and spiritual growth with mindfulness practices including the contemplative and active streams. As a trainer, she is particularly gifted at creating a learning atmosphere that is collaborative and respectful, and which embraces diversity in personal identity, skills and cultural perspectives.
The ability to regulate one’s body and find balance in emotion, thought and physical health is at the core of healing and well-being. It is extremely important for caregivers to cultivate their own well-being and deepen their own practice of developing regulation skills. This ‘working retreat’ will assist participants in developing their own mindful practice and provide the opportunity to experience the effect of a deeper embodied presence and attunement with others. In this highly experiential workshop participants will practice mindfulness, regulation skills and strategies meant to promote compassionate self-awareness and emotional balance as well as prevent burnout and compassion fatigue.
