For those who work in an environment where there is potential for violence, it is important to develop the skills needed to defuse dangerous situations. This webinar is designed to teach people to de-escalate potentially violent situations through assertiveness and interpersonal communication. Viewers will develop a clear understanding of how to assess the potential for violence and respond with a diverse set of interpersonal tools and strategies designed to defuse potentially violent situations.

About the Trainer

Randy Grieser, MSW, RSW – Founder & Chief Vision Officer

Randy is the founder and Chief Vision Officer of the Crisis & Trauma Resource Institute Inc. He is a Registered Social Worker who holds a Master of Social Work degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Conflict Resolution. Randy has also received advanced training in violence threat assessment and management from the Gavin de Becker Training Academy. In addition to his work with CTRI, he is a former Board Director for the Canadian Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (CATAP). Before founding CTRI, Randy worked directly with issues of violence prevention as a clinician in community and hospital settings. He has since broadened his training and consulting focus to include violence prevention in corporate and government settings. He is the author of CTRI’s Violence Threat Assessment – Planning and Response training material. Randy believes it is vital for organizations to increase their violence-prevention capabilities. He is skilled at helping organizations develop communication and decision-making processes that make it easier to gather information and assess potentially violent situations. He is an intuitive consultant who is gifted at engaging entire groups in conversations around violence prevention.

Cancellation Policy

Registrations cancelled seven or more days prior to the live webinar are refundable, minus a $20.00 administrative fee. Alternatively, you may receive a credit to attend a future training. Cancellations less than seven days prior to the workshop are non-refundable. If at any time you are unable to view the live webinar, you are welcome to transfer your registration to another individual at no extra cost. In this case, please notify CTRI of the name of the alternate person who will be viewing.

We reserve the right to cancel live webinars due to unforeseen circumstances or under-enrolment. Liability is limited to a refund of live webinar fees only.

Continuing Education Credit

While many associations and licensing bodies accept CTRI workshops for continuing education credits, questions about approval should be directed to the specific association or licensing body for which you are requesting the credits. Credit hours: There are six continuing education credits earned for each day of training. For example, a one-day workshop earns six continuing education hours, while a two-day workshop earns 12 hours. A certificate will be awarded upon the completion of the workshop.
