Trauma is prevalent in our world and has an impact on many of the people we interact with, including those who engage with our organizations. Compassionate and trauma-informed care is essential to providing effective support and building sustainable services. Based on our book, A Little Book About Trauma-Informed Workplaces, this workshop explores five key principles to integrate a trauma-informed approach throughout the organization. By embracing these principles, participants can better contribute to the positive transformation of individuals and relationships affected by trauma. Becoming trauma-informed creates a sustainable foundation in any setting to promote strength, engagement, and healing.

Target Audience
This is an introductory-intermediate level workshop intended for anyone interested in learning more about the value of trauma-informed workplaces.
Method of Delivery
Presentation, video, case study exercises, personal reflection, and small group discussions.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this workshop, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the prevalence and impact of trauma on individuals and organizations
- List five key trauma-informed principles
- Describe practical strategies for implementing each of the five trauma-informed principles
- Assess their own organization for areas of trauma-informed strengths and weakness
- Identify trauma-informed goals to improve service delivery and program planning

About Our Workshops
About the Trainer
Nathan Gerbrandt, MSW, RSW - Managing Director
Nathan is the Managing Director of CTRI. He is passionate about promoting trauma-informed practices that support individuals, organizations and communities. Prior to working with CTRI, Nathan coordinated service delivery and rehabilitation planning for people with co-occurring disorders and complex trauma in conflict with the law. He has refined skills in violence prevention, risk management, and collaborative treatment planning for vulnerable people. In addition, Nathan possesses specialty in the areas of disability services, case management, and working with people with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. He holds a Master of Social Work degree and is a Registered Social Worker. Nathan believes that the key to improving people’s lives through training is to find the right fit. When this connection is made it inspires a ripple effect that can extend to everyone we meet. He is co-author of A Little Book About Trauma-Informed Workplaces and the editor of many several CTRI’s training materials including Trauma-Informed Care, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and De-escalating Potentially Violent Situations™. Cancellation Policy
Registrations cancelled seven or more days prior to the workshop/live stream are refundable, minus a $50.00 administrative fee. Alternatively, you may receive a credit to attend a future training. Cancellations less than seven days prior to the workshop are non-refundable. If at any time you are unable to take part in the event, you are welcome to transfer your registration to another individual at no extra cost. In this case, please notify CTRI of the name of the alternate person.
We reserve the right to cancel an event due to unforeseen circumstances or under-enrolment. Liability is limited to a refund of workshop/live-stream fees only.
You Will Receive
Login details approximately 3-4 days prior to the event date, as well as a PDF e-manual, and a PDF workshop certificate.

Continuing Education Credit
While many associations and licensing bodies accept CTRI workshops for continuing education credits, questions about approval should be directed to the specific association or licensing body for which you are requesting the credits. Credit hours: There are six continuing education credits earned for each day of training. For example, a one-day workshop earns six continuing education hours, while a two-day workshop earns 12 hours. A certificate will be awarded upon the completion of the workshop. Filming and Photography
Crisis & Trauma Resource Institute reserves the right to film video content and take photography at our events. Some of our workshops will be live-streamed and filmed for participants not in attendance. Filming and photography may also be used for promotional materials.
