Dave is Executive Director of Fraser Region Community Justice Initiatives Association (FRCJIA), an Adjunct Professor in the School of Criminology at SFU, a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a member of the Leuven, Belgium Institute for Criminological research. He is considered a pioneer in restorative justice program development and implementation. In addition to his work in the area of restorative justice, Dave also has a counselling practice where he specializes in mental health, trauma recovery and resilience. He believes that interventions based in positive, strength based, deeply caring relationships with competent providers creates contexts in which recovery, healing and transformation are enabled and enhanced in people’s lives. Dave firmly believes in the power of the human spirit and the ability of individuals to overcome and transcend the most difficult of circumstances. As a trainer, his use of an engaging and facilitative training style, combined with content and stories born of life experience, enables him to bring theory to life.
