Wilma Schroeder, BN, MMFT
Wilma is a family therapist and former mental health nurse, holding a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Certificate in Adult Education. Her private practice focuses on support and strengthening of families living with a mental illness. She taught nursing at Red River College for family nursing and mental health clinical practice, and led the nursing faculty’s Critical Incident Stress Management team. Wilma’s particular interests include working with families who are experiencing illness or loss, including major mental illnesses, lateral violence, and family violence. Her therapeutic approach is strengths-based and relational, recognizing the influence of sociocultural and personal context, which makes each person’s and family’s experience unique. Wilma believes that healing occurs within relationship and through therapeutic conversation. As an educator, she works to engage learners through active learning and practical application of concepts for skill development.
