Elaine Conrad, MEd, RP

Elaine is a Registered Psychotherapist and Teacher who holds a Master of Education degree in Counselling Psychology. In addition to training with CTRI, she maintains a clinical practice where she works with individuals and families who are coping with various mental health and relationship issues including anxiety and depression, trauma, addictions, and parenting/attachment concerns. Elaine believes that having unconditional positive regard and being non-judgemental are integral to creating great relationships. As a facilitator, Elaine brings a unique perspective to her workshops, drawing on her varied national and international work experiences. Her diverse education and work background  not only includes teaching and counselling, but nursing, educational consulting, and extensive humanitarian work in sub-Saharan Africa as well. She utilizes her 25 years of experience in health care, counselling, education, and consulting to help make workshops engaging, interactive, and practical.

Many people who struggle with mental illness also struggle with an addiction. Recovery from both of these issues is complicated because they affect each other and are intertwined. Helpers may often be at a loss for where to start – did the addiction cause the mental illness, did the mental illness cause the addiction, or is there something else leading to both? This workshop provides a framework for working systemically with both issues at the same time.

Critical incidents are situations that occur outside of our normal frame of reference and challenge us to understand and cope with what has happened. Critical Incident Group Debriefing (CIGD) is a short-term group intervention process that focuses on an immediate event. CIGD is one of several methods that may be utilized to lessen the likelihood of people experiencing symptoms of trauma and stress after a critical incident.

Cancellation Policy

Registrations cancelled seven or more days prior to the workshop are refundable, minus a $50.00 administrative fee. Alternatively, you may receive a credit to attend a future training. Cancellations less than seven days prior to the workshop are non-refundable. If at any time you are unable to attend, you are welcome to transfer your registration to another individual at no extra cost. In this case, please notify CTRI of the name of the alternate person who will be attending.

We reserve the right to cancel workshops due to unforeseen circumstances or under-enrolment. Liability is limited to a refund of workshop fees only. Please make travel and accommodation arrangements with this in mind.

Register early! To better facilitate group interaction, seating is limited.

Children and unregistered guests are not permitted in the meeting rooms.

You Will Receive

A spiral bound training manual and workshop certificate, as well as morning and afternoon refreshments. Participants are on their own for lunch from noon until 1:00 p.m., unless otherwise stated. For live-stream participants, you will receive a pdf copy of the manual.
