Carolyn Carrier, MEd, RPsych

Carolyn is a Registered Psychotherapist who has a private clinical practice where she specializes in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression. She is a certified EMDR Therapist and holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology. Carolyn believes that the body and mind are naturally designed to heal, but at times this process can become “stuck.” She sees her role as a counsellor to help address these “stuck” points to allow for healing to occur. Prior to starting her private practice, Carolyn worked in both the forensic field and in the hospital environment. As a trainer, Carolyn draws on her experiences to present the material in a dynamic way that engages participants and provides them with opportunities to apply the information they’ve learned.

Many people who struggle with mental illness also struggle with an addiction. Recovery from both of these issues is complicated because they affect each other and are intertwined. Helpers may often be at a loss for where to start – did the addiction cause the mental illness, did the mental illness cause the addiction, or is there something else leading to both? This workshop provides a framework for working systemically with both issues at the same time.

Critical incidents are situations that occur outside of our normal frame of reference and challenge us to understand and cope with what has happened. Critical Incident Group Debriefing (CIGD) is a short-term group intervention process that focuses on an immediate event. CIGD is one of several methods that may be utilized to lessen the likelihood of people experiencing symptoms of trauma and stress after a critical incident.

Cancellation Policy

Registrations cancelled seven or more days prior to the workshop are refundable, minus a $50.00 administrative fee. Alternatively, you may receive a credit to attend a future training. Cancellations less than seven days prior to the workshop are non-refundable. If at any time you are unable to attend, you are welcome to transfer your registration to another individual at no extra cost. In this case, please notify CTRI of the name of the alternate person who will be attending.

We reserve the right to cancel workshops due to unforeseen circumstances or under-enrolment. Liability is limited to a refund of workshop fees only. Please make travel and accommodation arrangements with this in mind.

You Will Receive

A spiral bound training manual and workshop certificate, as well as morning refreshments. Participants are on their own for lunch from noon until 1:00 p.m., unless otherwise stated. For live-stream participants, you will receive a pdf copy of the manual.
