Addictions and Youth – Substances, Technology, Porn (1 day)

This workshop provides a framework for responding to a variety of addictions including: substance, gaming, Internet and pornography. Intervention attempts with youth who are struggling with addictions are often met with resistance. While some youth are merely experimenting, for others, their use quenches a much larger unmet need and a pattern of use and abuse develops. Participants of this workshop will examine the needs underlying youth choices to participate in a potentially addictive activity. They will also consider issues that make working with youth different than working with adults and explore short term and longer term intervention strategies.

Note – this workshop was formerly titled Substance Abuse and Youth
